Role: Associate Director, Talent Acquisition

Team: Human Resources

How Long Have You Been at Cognitiv: 2 years 7 months

How would you describe your job to someone who doesn't work in your department?

As our company's sole recruiter, I am responsible for sourcing, identifying, and hiring qualified candidates for our job openings. Most of my day is spent screening applicants, working with hiring managers, guiding candidates through the interview process, and working with the Human Resources team to extend offers. Outside of that, I have had the opportunity to be involved with employer branding, implementing our Applicant Tracking System (ATS), and improving the interview and recruiting processes at Cognitiv.

Can you share a bit about your background and how you landed at Cognitv?

My career began in sales, where I honed my skills working with professional and major Division 1 sports teams. I specialized in selling tickets, sponsorships, and premium seating, gaining valuable experience building relationships. Wanting to try something different, I transitioned into recruiting, where I discovered a passion for connecting talent with opportunity. Starting at a staffing agency, I quickly learned the ins and outs of talent acquisition before becoming an in-house recruiter.

What aspect of Cognitiv makes you proud to work here?

Our culture is truly second to none. From our house competitions, our in-person all-hands, celebrating holidays, and collaborating every day with a dedicated and extremely smart group of people.

Can you share an accomplishment or project that you are most proud of from your time at Cognitiv? Tell us about it.

Since I joined the team, the company has experienced nearly triple growth in size—a transformation I am proud to have actively contributed to. Being part of the team driving this expansion has been incredibly rewarding.

Who on #TeamCognitiv inspires you the most, and why?

I have to give a shoutout to my boss, Jason Pellegrino. He has played a major role in my growth here at Cognitiv. Since day one, he has prioritized career growth and given me the freedom to own most of our recruiting process. Jay has a unique ability to combine people skills with managerial skills. It's been a privilege to learn from him every day.

What advice would you give someone just starting their career in our industry?

Be a sponge. We are at the intersection of two industries: Ad Tech and AI. Both can be difficult to grasp when coming from a different industry. Take the opportunity to learn from mentors and supervisors and stay up to date on industry trends.

Describe your ideal weekend.

A weekend getaway to either the mountains or beach and disconnect from technology as much as possible.

Let’s end with a fun fact! Tell us something unique about you – maybe your Astrology sign, a talent, your favorite vacation spot, etc.

I recently became a homeowner and look forward to the number of projects I'll have over the next few years.
