How it started

Aaron, Jeremy and Marc met in fifth grade and quickly bonded over their shared interests in computer science. They grew up together, attending accelerated STEM magnet programs at schools in Montgomery County Maryland. While a rigorous curriculum led Aaron, Jeremy and Marc to attend prestigious universities and apply their skill sets across academia, business, and technology, it also provided the three friends a shared language. One not simply rooted in science, but also trust, curiosity, and respect.

How it's going

Today, Cognitiv applies Artificial Intelligence, in the form of deep learning applications and technologies, to predict consumer behavior and self-drive full-funnel marketing performance at scale. Over the years, we have mastered the complex challenges marketers are up against. Through the leadership of our co-founders, Aaron, Jeremy, and Marc, and a highly-skilled team of deep learning experts, we are redefining and evolving deep learning for marketing for a more intelligent tomorrow.

Jeremy Fain CEO & Co-Founder
Jeremy Fain CEO & Co-Founder

Jeremy Fain is the CEO and co-founder of Cognitiv. With over 20 years of interactive experience across agency, publisher, and ad tech management, Jeremy led North American Accounts for Rubicon Project before founding Cognitiv. At Rubicon Project, Jeremy was responsible for global market success of over 400 media companies and 500 demand partners through Real-Time-Bidding, new product development, and other revenue strategies, ensuring interactive buyers and sellers could take full advantage of automated transactions. Prior to Rubicon Project, Jeremy served as Director of Network Solutions for CBS Interactive. With oversight of a $30 million+ P&L, Jeremy was responsible for development, execution and management of data-driven solutions across CBS Interactive’s network of branded sites, including audience targeting, private exchange, and custom audience solutions. Prior to CBS, Jeremy served as Vice President of Industry Services for the IAB, where he shaped interactive industry policy, standards, and best practices, such as the first VAST standard and the Tc&Cs 3.0, by working on a daily basis with all the major media companies as well as all the agency holding companies. Jeremy Fain attended Yale University where he graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering and Columbia Business School where he received his MBA.

Marc Hudacsko CTO & Co-Founder
Marc Hudacsko CTO & Co-Founder

Marc Hudacsko is the CTO and co-founder of Cognitiv and is responsible for the company’s technology platform and deep learning algorithm development. As a serial entrepreneur and veteran engineer, Marc has led global engineering teams for decades. Before founding Cognitiv, Marc led the Business Intelligence unit at SunEdison, where he was responsible for internal management and reporting systems and for migrating SunEdison's internal systems from internal data centers. Marc also managed multiple globally distributed software and product management teams. Previously, Marc co-founded machine learning startup DigiDelve and served as a Senior Consultant at InfoReliance. He earned his Bachelor's in Physics from the University of Maryland.

Aaron Andalman CSO & Co-Founder
Aaron Andalman CSO & Co-Founder

Aaron Andalman is the CSO and co-founder of Cognitiv. As a startup veteran, top CS graduate from Stanford, and PhD in Neuroscience from M.I.T., Aaron specialized in neural networks at Stanford for six years before founding Cognitiv. As a Postdoctoral Scholar, Aaron was awarded the prestigious Helen Hay Whitney Fellowship and focused on developing advanced computational microscopy methods and data analysis techniques to better understand learning and memory. In the process of earning his PhD at MIT, Aaron discovered two fundamental functions of cortical-basal ganglia neural circuits for the acquisition of new motor skills; techniques included in-vivo awake-behaving electrophysiology, localized pharmacological manipulation, light field microscopy, optogenetics, two-photon microscopy, and computational modeling with recurrent neural networks. Aaron’s research on learning in neural systems is published in several prestigious journals (Cell, Science, Nature, PNAS) and has been recognized with national and international awards and fellowships. Aaron’s academic background is complemented by his experience as an engineer at the successful startup Financial Engines.

Jana Jakovljevic VP, Client Success
Jana Jakovljevic VP, Client Success

A seasoned veteran with over 15 years ad tech and digital media experience, Jana leads Cognitiv's client services, operations and media strategist teams to ensure the successful delivery of clients' goals. Her remit is to make it simple and effortless for marketers to take advantage of custom, deep artificial neural networks in an easily repeatable and scalable way. Prior to joining Cognitiv, Jana was Vice President of Business Development at IPONWEB, where she worked with enterprise clients to establish and expand bespoke technical solutions that solved advertising infrastructure challenges. As the Global Head of Programmatic Solutions at Spotify, Jana successfully launched the company’s programmatic strategy and offerings, and helped pioneer the first programmatic audio ad. Jana also held various management positions at Rubicon Project where she built out the international buy side partnerships and played a foundational role in their journey from start-up to IPO.

Frank Guzzardo svp, Sales
Frank Guzzardo svp, Sales

Frank Guzzardo SVP Sales at Cognitiv might be considered an OG of the adtech space.

A career that began by answering a print classified ad in the New York Times for something called an ad network has spanned across 2 decades. Frank has been on the cutting-edge representing companies at the vanguard (in their time) of technologies such as ad networks, ad exchanges, programmatic media buying, multi touch attribution, meta-DSPs and now taking his talents to Cognitiv, bringing deep learning, the most advanced application of artificial intelligence, to marketers.

Frank lives in a long-time resident of NYC’s West Village (before it became celebrity central) and can’t wait for live music venues to open again.

Justine Frostad vp, Marketing
Justine Frostad vp, Marketing

As VP of Marketing, Justine oversees all aspects of Cognitiv’s marketing efforts including branding, product marketing, digital media, content development and PR. With over a decade of experience working in ad tech, Justine brings with her a strong track record of building, growing and effectively promoting B2B brands. Before joining Cognitiv, Justine served as Senior Director of Marketing at Sightly, where she led a rebrand for the performance advertising company, evolving the brand positioning in-market. Prior to Sightly, Justine was Director of Marketing at The Exchange Lab, a programmatic media buying company that was ultimately acquired by WPP. At The Exchange Lab, Justine was one of the first hires in the Toronto office, ultimately moving to NYC to help expand the start-up into the U.S. market. This meant working on strategic marketing efforts at a pivotal time leading up to the acquisition.

Justine holds a BA from New York University, and a Master's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College in Boston. In her spare time, Justine enjoys live music, cooking and connecting with friends.
