March is Women’s History Month and for many, it represents a time to reflect and celebrate the contributions that women have played in forging gender equality. It is also a time to recognize the myriad of achievements women have made over the course of history. However, this work is not yet complete and we know that have a responsibility to continue the momentum toward a diverse, equitable, and inclusive world
Here is how Cognitiv celebrated and honored Women’s History Month this year:
Spotlighting Women-Owned Businesses
Similar to our Black History Month efforts, we wanted to encourage our employees to celebrate Women’s Month in intentional and impactful ways that can be applied year-round. Supporting local Women-owned businesses has a positive impact on our communities and the economy at large. Most notably, it also aids efforts to eliminate the gender wage gap that unfortunately still exists in this day and age. We provided our employees with a list of Women-owned businesses located near each office, and for our remote employees, provided businesses that ship nationwide.
Local Clothing Drives
This month, our Bellevue and New York offices have partnered with two incredible organizations with similar missions, Bottomless Closet (NYC) and Dress for Success (Seattle). Both organizations seek to champion and empower women in the workforce by creating a network of support, professional attire and developmental tools to thrive in the workplace. We reached out to these organizations to determine what they were in need of the most and how we could best assist. Our team members eagerly participated in our drive, donating the professional attire and bags that these organizations had been seeking. We are proud of the internal response from our team members and look forward to continuing to partner with these organizations in the future.
